Many people in the U.S. suffer from knee pain and have a tough time staying active, which can hurt their health and happiness. Our study focuses on a common knee problem called patellofemoral pain. We're testing a new way to reduce pain and fear related to movement by combining mindfulness and physical activity through a mobile app. We believe that being mindful during exercise could make a big difference in how people feel physically and mentally.
You will join a three-week program to help with knee pain through mindful walking or running. You'll start at home with a short Headspace (mobile app) course on mindfulness. Then, you'll do three walks or runs using the Headspace app's audio guides to practice mindfulness. After that, you'll complete three more walks or runs using what you've learned, without the guides. We'll check in on how your knee feels, your injury-related fears, and your walking or running pace throughout the study.
You will receive a $100 virtual gift card.
