Donate Plasma

Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19, tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies, or had a known COVID-19 exposure? You may be able to help patients who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. You may be eligible to donate plasma. A Clinical Research Study Looking at the Safety and Effectiveness of a New Anti-viral, EIDD-2801, to Limit the Amount of Infectious SARS-CoV-2 Virus in People Who Test Positive for COVID-19

Have you recently tested positive for COVID-19? The Ridgeback study will explore whether a new anti-viral, EIDD-2801, given to people who test positive for COVID-19 can reduce the amount of infectious virus in someone's body. We will be looking at whether this new drug can reduce the spread of the virus from person to person, as well as reduce complications associated with the illness.

If you have been previously seen at a UNC Health clinic and have no signs of COVID-19 infection, which include fever, shortness of breath, body aches, loss of taste and smell, and if you have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past month, you may be able to participate in this study testing for COVID-19 antibodies. 


We have even more COVID-19 research at UNC! Some of the studies listed are recruiting by physician referral or invitation only, meaning that they are looking for very specific participants.  We encourage you to explore what UNC is doing to combat COVID-19, but you won't be able to express interest in some of these studies.  To see more research about COVID-19 at UNC, click below.

COVID-19 Citizen Science Study

UCSF Eureka Research App

Researchers at the University of California San Francisco want to learn what works to slow the outbreak and the real impacts COVID-19 has on people around the world. You can participate in the study by downloading the UCSF Eureka Research App and spending 5 minutes per day taking simple surveys.

SECURE-IBD Database

For Clinicians

An international database for IBD clinicians to report outcomes of patients with IBD who have coronavirus. The SECURE-IBD Registry lists newly reported outcomes on their website daily.

SECURE-Cirrhosis Registry

For Clinicians

A registry for clinicians taking care of patients with liver diseases worldwide to report all cases of COVID-19 in their cirrhosis and post-liver transplant patients.
