More primary care healthcare providers are asking patients questions about their ability to access and pay for things they need, like transportation, food, and housing. The purpose of this research study is to better understand how healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers feel about asking and answering these types of questions.

We will collect stem cells from individuals with autism to investigate brain development in sibling pairs who do not share a diagnosis of ASD, as well as examine associations between brain growth and variation in ASD-related behaviors.

The purpose of this study is to understand the ways in which systemic sclerosis (SSc) develops and identify potential treatments. Because this study focuses on the interaction between macrophages and fibroblasts, both peripheral blood and skin will be necessary for completion of this work. Results from this work will provide the rational basis for the development of novel treatments for SSc patients.

Positive racial identity has been linked to Black children's achievement and socio-emotional.iii Research has found that when Black children receive messages about having positive self-worth and self-identity, balanced with messages about racial inequalities, this results in joyful learning and socio-emotional outcomes,iiiiv academic curiosity, and persistence.v Thus, a focus on positive racial identity may be one particular strategy to ensure the healthy development and learning for Black children to combat against racism and biases they are likely to experience. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (ESOP) Master of Science (MS) in Pharmaceutical Science with a specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration (HSPA) has on graduates and their career while also assessing the impact key curriculum requirements (e.g., projects, presentations, research, etc.) have on graduates practice site and the profession. Successful completion of this project will inform further curriculum improvement, inform programmatic design, and produce key data pivotal in the continued recruitment for the program. Most significantly, it will ensure the UNC ESOP continues to produce exceptional MS graduates capable of leading and advancing the profession of pharmacy.

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effects of Sickle Cell Disease on the state of coagulation and effects on generation of certain coagulation proteins. People with sickle cell disease tend to have a higher rate of thrombosis which is not fully understood. Through this study, we hope to gain a better understanding of the effects of sickle cell disease on turning on coagulation that ultimately leads to a thrombotic event.
