This project is about the role of science and data in ocean management. The Big Data revolution is increasing knowledge about oceans and human impacts on them. This knowledge both fuels and is fueled by interest in development and conservation opportunities in oceans. Ocean data science initiatives (ODSIs) use new data and technologies to support work by government and non-government organizations to extend, reform and create new policies for ocean management. This project examines the role of ODSIs in improved ocean management, at global and regional scales, focusing on two key questions: 1) What kinds of new policies are possible based on knowledge generated by ODSIs? 3) How can ODSIs inform policies for ocean management in ways that that support environmental sustainability and human well-being? The project brings together an interdisciplinary team of human geographers, marine ecologists, geospatial data scientists and information scientists to conduct the research. It also engages

Children diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome and Down syndrome are at substantially increased risk for developing neuropsychiatric disorders including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Despite a known genetic cause for each syndrome, substantial clinical variability exists among children with both syndromes, suggesting an important role for genetic background in shaping child outcomes. We will collect behavioral and genetic data from biological parents to model the relative role of genetic background in explaining behavioral, neurobiological, and clinical variability in young children with Fragile X and Down syndrome who have been followed with brain imaging and behavioral testing since infancy.
The primary purpose of this project is to support local Triple P counties and/or agencies to monitor and improve Triple P implementation by increasing the availability of quality outcome monitoring resources for county and/or agency partners. In addition, the project team is interested in using the data for future research purposes.

The purpose of this study is to describe how meals were served through federal child nutrition programs during the COVID-19 school closures. This study involves interviews with child nutrition directors who will also have the opportunity to submit video diaries about their programs. A goal of this research is to provide information that can inform future improvements to policy and practice related to federal child nutrition programs and identify innovative approaches to running these programs that occurred during the crisis but can be sustained when normalcy resumes.
