The purpose of the research is to better understand the challenges in providing audiological services to children with complex support needs.
As machine learning is accepted as one of the most powerful tools to solve problems that involve a large amount of data, more and more application areas started to explore and adopt machine learning methods into their workflows. The first step of developing a machine learning model is to determine the target variable, i.e. what to predict. For instance, if a practitioner wants to develop a model to assist hiring decisions, he/she may choose a candidate's performance score as the prediction target to train the machine learning model. In practice, practitioners need to experiment and evaluate a large set of potential target variables until they reach a satisfactory one. We would like to automate the evaluation of target variables and recommend good ones to the users. The purpose of this study is to understand how different recommendation strategies influence the target selection process.
The purpose of this research study is to improve the understanding and satisfaction with confidential reporting of learning environment concerns for Pediatric Resident physicians. We will conduct a baseline needs assessment survey , followed by targeted education on a singular reporting system, covering report submission, procedural follow-up, and outcome communication. A follow-up survey will evaluate for change in the understanding of and satisfaction with the process. Through this intervention, the objective is to enhance clarity and satisfaction with the reporting process.
The purpose of the study is to analyze if asking questions on polarizing topics reduces response quality The study will analyze the research question using an experiment. Respondents will be randomly assigned to one of two main conditions. The experimental group will receive uncomfortable or embarrassing true-or-false questions about their political party, depending on what party they identify with. The questions are factual but may be perceived as biased or polarizing. The control group will receive 3 true-or-false questions about Democrats and 3 true-or-false questions about Republicans. Later, the researcher will compare instances/rates of satisficing, affective polarization, sentiment codes, internal consistency, conformity, and truthfulness between the experimental and control groups.
This study aims to understand implementation of Restorative Practices in selected NC public elementary schools, the reason for implementation failures and successes in selected schools, and the underlying causes of such failures and successes.
The goal of this project is to develop an OSCE to evaluate the education that anesthesiology resident physicians receive as part of their first (of two) regional anesthesia rotations. The exam will test resident knowledge and skills of regional anesthesiology and assess competency with the main regional anesthesiology blocks outlined in the ABA content outline for resident training. This will provide valuable feedback for the participant about their gaps of knowledge and allow the regional anesthesiology division of the UNC Department of Anesthesiology to assess resident educational curriculum and address any topics that need to be emphasized.
(1) To translate a remote developmental assessment into Spanish with feedback from the Spanish-speaking community (2) To try out the assessment with Latinx infants who are showing risk signs of a developmental disability. After completing the assessment, we will interview families about their experiences. We hope that this information will help us improve remote assessments for Latinx families to better match their culture and language.
To continue to evaluate this FDA approved device in real-world use and to ensure the adequacy of the device training program.
We are conducting this study to see how well athletes with blood clots are able to manage their blood thinner around training and competition.
The goal of this study is to look into the patient-reported and functional outcomes of patients who have undergone total femoral replacement or osseointegrated amputation for oncologic and traumatic indications. We want to see if functional and patient-reported outcomes are correlated and if patient satisfaction with the implants differs between surgical indications.
