We are seeking participants with type 2 diabetes who use insulin and whose diabetes has affected kidney function and are interested in trying out a new medication that is expected to improve blood sugar control and prevent the weight gain (or induce weight loss) associated with increased insulin use. Compensation for time and travel are provided.
This is a clinical research study opportunity for people with Type 2 Diabetes using long-acting insulin. In this study, we want to learn more about an innovative approach for improving diabetes outcomes using Fractyl Health's Revita System for removing excess tissue from the small intestine. This minimally invasive procedure is believed to improve blood sugar control and overall metabolic health by altering the body's hormonal response to food intake in a similar way to that achieved with bypass surgery. Are you Hispanic and have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes? You may be able to participate in a research study about how a community health worker may influence follow-up care.
The purpose of this research study is to test differences in food intake of items with flavored and non-flavored counterparts. The data generated will be used to select future research tasks in other studies.

We are studying different approaches to modify the activity of immune cells, such as T lymphocytes, that are involved in mediating type 1 diabetes. We need a small amount of blood to prepare T lymphocytes to test our therapies.

At this time we are not able to offer interviews to people who applied to UNC or Duke, we are interested in hearing from people who applied to other programs (such as Atrium, Novant, Wake, Vidant, ECU, Cape Fear Health Net, Physicians Reach Out, or Project Access).
