Do you have problems with your thinking or memory? Or a parent or sibling with dementia? If so, we'd like you to join this registry about the brain and Alzheimer's disease. In return for providing us with a little bit of your health history and background, we will connect you with researchers doing studies you can join, without obligation. Many studies pay a stipend and some offer a possible treatment.
We are collecting cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) from Normal Pressure Hydrocephaly (NPH) patients to generate a biosample research repository. This repository will be used to research CSF biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease that may enhance our ability to detect and monitor Alzheimer's disease diagnoses and progression.
The purpose of the study is to establish a Clinical Cohort (group) of research participants to examine normal cognition, mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease and related disorders (ADRD) as people get older. We will be measuring changes in your memory and the way you process information as you age. As part of the study, you will be asked to participate in yearly evaluations of your memory and health. You will have brain imagining done by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), a lumbar puncture and blood will be drawn at some visits. Also, as part of this research you must designate a "project partner." This should be someone who is familiar with your health and will be able to provide information about your health and wellbeing as appropriate.
This study will gather information about patients who are taking new medicines for Alzheimer's disease. We'll keep an eye on how these patients are doing in the long run, tracking things like how they're responding to treatment, what their overall health outcomes are like, and how safe these new treatments really are when used in the real world. The goal of this study is to get a better understanding of how these therapies actually work for a diverse group of people, not just the people who usually participate in clinical trials.
