Disability Experiences on Campus

The purpose of this study is to identify accessibility concerns at UNC Chapel Hill and learn how physically disabled students are impacted by inaccessible spaces. Disabled students have historically faced obstacles in navigating the campus to do the same activities that able-bodies students take part in daily. By exploring the priority that the institution places on making certain buildings accessible, this study can serve as a guide for identifying further accessibility measures that must be implemented on campus.

Pathway to assessing readiness for interprofessional education and collaboration in clinical sites

Interprofessional education experiences is now an integral part of accreditation criteria for health professional schools, and as a result, programs have had to implement interprofessional learning opportunities for all students. While strong models exist for didactic interprofessional training, there is a great need for interprofessional practice opportunities for students to apply the skills that they are learning. The practice environment often varies in how collaboration is viewed, and therefore, students may feel there is a gap between the 'ideal' collaborative environment of which they have been taught, and the reality of the practice setting. This can cause frustration for students, preceptors, and faculty. There is a great need to develop an assessment of the interprofessional clinical learning environment and to provide sites with the skills needed to maximize collaborative practice and learning opportunities. Additionally, a site assessment process can help clinical sites better prepare for improving current learning processes.

The Impact of Narrative Format on Adult Learners

This research aims to explore the influence of diverse narrative formats on adult learners' attitudes towards postsecondary education. The study will involve two focus groups with adult learners currently enrolled at Cape Fear Community College. Participants will be shown different narrative formats, including web-based text stories and videos, followed by guided discussions. The goal is to understand how these formats impact factors such as attention, identification, social proof, and emotion.
