Connections among Age, Occupation, and Environment in an Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness

This study will illustrate how place is created for older adults through connections among aging, environment, and occupation. I will use a narrative approach to examine how community-based organizational leaders relate stories of anticipated meaningful relationships among aging, environment, and occupation in a community-based Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness. Additionally, I will explore how older adults narrate their meaningful occupational engagement among these environmental contexts. Overall, I will assess the connections between community-based organizational leaders' related stories of how aging, environment, and occupation would be situated and older adults' narrated accounts of their occupational engagement among the Center's environmental contexts.

Assessing treatment preferences and quality of life of high-risk skin lesions in solid organ transplant recipients: a cross-sectional study

To collect quantitative data to: -Primarily gain a better understanding of patients' attitudes and preferences regarding end-of-life care management if they were to develop a high-risk skin cancer. To be more specific, we hope to gain a better understanding of how patients weigh their risk of developing skin cancer while taking immunosuppressants versus the risk of transplant rejection should they choose to stop or lower their immunosuppressants. -Determine how far these kidney transplant recipients travel to obtain skin-related care -Determine how frequently kidney transplant recipients obtain skin exams -Determine patients' baseline knowledge regarding risk of skin cancer while taking immunosuppressants, which are medicines that lowers immune systems -Determine the quality of life of individuals with skin cancer who are kidney transplant recipients

Emergency department patient perceptions on deprescribing

Recent updates to the clinical practice guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA) and US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), now recommend against the use of aspirin for primary prevention in older adults due to the associated bleeding risks. Moreover, it is estimated that 25-40% of older adults continue routine aspirin consumption without evidence-based clinical indications. Using the emergency department as a platform to evaluate patients' perspectives on discontinuing aspirin in scenarios where the risks or potential drawbacks surpass the benefits. This assessment takes into account the patient's care objectives, existing functionality, life expectancy, values, and preferences.
