If you are a mother in recovery with a child aged 6-12, you may be able to participate in a study that helps families facing similar challenges. Compensation and childcare will be provided.
Do you have a child ages 9-12? Do you live in rural North Carolina? You may be able to participate in a research study that is exploring how parents, particularly in rural areas, want to have conversations about HPV vaccination with their children's' doctors and nurses. Did your spouse or partner deploy with the 82nd Airborne during an IRF activation? Were any of your children in grades K-12 during that time? If so, we would like to hear from you about your experiences! Your voice matters.
Do you have a child between 12-14 years of age who is healthy but has some symptoms of anxiety or unexplained nervousness? You may be able to take part in a study with your child to better understand how anxiety develops across adolescence in brain and stress responses. Compensation provided.
Do you and your romantic partner want to cut back on substance use? Are you wanting to spend your time together in more meaningful ways? You may be able to take part in a research study testing a new couple's therapy treatment for substance use. Benefits include 3 months of couple's therapy at no cost.
Are you a young woman who had early puberty? We are interviewing young adult women who had early puberty and their mothers to understand the experiences and needs of girls who have early puberty. Mothers and daughters will be interviewed separately. Compensation will be provided.
Are you pregnant or did you recently have a baby? Do you have Medicaid insurance? If so, you may be able to participate in a research study to help find ways for more pregnant people to get the dental care they need. Compensation provided.
The UNC Family Connections study is focused on the positive. We want to learn about how mothers in recovery from addiction define, recognize, and foster emotions that connect their children to others such as gratitude, generosity, and love. Compensation provided.
Does your child have recurrent wheezing? They may be able to take part in the EAGLE study to help us learn if a new medication may help.
Parents are stressed out finding and managing health and nonmedical services for their transition aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Building advocacy skills through peer-to-peer learning provides inspiration and life-long tools to address new questions and needs as they arise. Parents of youth aged 11-27 with IDD are invited to participate in this study. Parents will attend a group with other parents; the groups will meet 4 times, once a week for 1 hour.
