Concussion History and Kinesiophobia Study

The purpose of this study is to examine associations between an athlete's concussion history, perceived social support, perceived stress, and kinesiophobia (fear of movement) symptoms. A better understanding of these associations may help clinicians and researchers understand the importance of implementing mental health care into the rehabilitation process of recovering from a concussion.

Preventing Injured Knees from osteoArthritis

Have you recently had an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will be undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery? If so, you may be able to participate in a study comparing the effects on pain relief and arthritis prevention of metformin or placebo. Compensation provided.

Sleep after ACL Reconstruction

Previous research has shown that individuals with a history of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and have had an ACL reconstruction (ACLR) are at a greater risk for not returning to previous levels of sport participation or sustaining a secondary injury. While deficits in physical function and recovery are often present in these patients, it has also been suggested that psychological factors may serve as a primary reason for failure to return to previous function. To reduce this, we must first identify changes that occur post-ACLR to develop future interventions for treatment and we may identify sleep as a modifiable factor we can target to improve outcomes.

Core Strength Influence on Jumping and Cutting in Females

Do you think you have a strong core? If you are a healthy female with experience in jumping and cutting activities, able to complete your physical fitness activities, and do not have a history of a spine or lower extremity orthopedic surgery or a central nervous system disorder, you may be able to participate in a research study to determine if core stability influence your jumping and cutting performance as well as your ability to mentally multitask during activities.

Movement Characteristics in Virtual Reality

Are you a club athlete or recreationally active and between the ages of 18 and 35? You may be able to take part in a research study to help us learn more about the relationship between jumping and running tasks and a virtual reality task. We also want to find out more about the impact of a concussion on these tasks. We are looking for people who have recently had a concussion (within 9 months) to take part.

Energy Availability in Female Athletes Study

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the number of female collegiate athletes who fall in the "at-risk"category for developing low energy availability. Low energy availability can cause an increased risk of developing a musculoskeletal injury. If we can learn how common the condition is, then we can work to develop better strategies for screening purposes.
