Hypertonic Saline in Non-CF Bronchiectasis

Does hypertonic saline improve mucus clearance in bronchiectasis? The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effects of 7% hypertonic saline (HS) delivered by nebulizer on clearance of mucus from the lungs in people with bronchiectasis. We will compare mucociliary clearance (MCC: a measurement of the rate at which a person's lungs can clear inhaled particles) at baseline, after a single dose of HS, and after two weeks of treatment with HS twice a day. We will also assess response to HS with other outcomes (spirometry, multiple breath washout [MBW], changes in sputum [coughed up mucus or phlegm], and survey responses). Compensation provided. No blood draws required.

Medical Device Removing Excess Tissue in Digestive System in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes on Insulin Therapy

This is a clinical research study opportunity for people with Type 2 Diabetes using long-acting insulin. In this study, we want to learn more about an innovative approach for improving diabetes outcomes using Fractyl Health's Revita System for removing excess tissue from the small intestine. This minimally invasive procedure is believed to improve blood sugar control and overall metabolic health by altering the body's hormonal response to food intake in a similar way to that achieved with bypass surgery.
