Understanding Relationships and Processes in HIV Advocacy

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) remains a significant health justice concern with increasing political threats to education, prevention, and treatment. North Carolina continues to face significant intersectional disparities in preventing and treating HIV resulting in high incidence rates compared to the rest of the United States. However, North Carolina has an established HIV advocacy network that aims to improve the lives of those impacted by HIV. The rationale for this project is that understand the network of organizations involved in how HIV is overseen in North Carolina. It seeks to explore what, how, and why these organizations interact to inform current and future advocacy efforts that contribute to improving the lives of those living with HIV.

CHAP FU Child

This study is being conducted to evaluate the current state of knowledge regarding long-term child outcomes among children born to women with mild CHTN who received antihypertensive therapy in pregnancy or who had preeclampsia. This study will compare long-term outcomes, including neurodevelopment and growth in women who participated in the CHAP study with pregnancy.

Coordinating SNAP and Nutrition Supports

This study is helping to plan and evaluate a SNAP in Schools component of a Coordinating SNAP and Nutrition Support project being carried out by partner organizations in North Carolina. The study includes a survey to see if families attending Buncombe County Schools are aware of and using food resources such as Food and Nutrition Services (FNS)/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and school meals. The responses provided will be used to help plan activities to increase awareness and access to food assistance resources for Buncombe County Schools families.
