Do you have mycobacterial lung infection (such as MAC or M. Abscessus)? Are you currently receiving treatment for this infection? If so, you may be able to take part in a study to see how well inhaled Clofazimine works to treat mycobacterial lung infections. By taking part, you can receive up to $4,100.
If you have bronchiectasis and have needed antibiotics for worsening symptoms or flare-ups in the past year, you might be eligible to try a new inhaled medication called Ensifentrine. We want to see if this medication can help reduce symptoms and prevent flare-ups. You will be compensated for your participation.
Do you have sickle cell trait or wonder if you might? Join our study to learn more about how having sickle cell trait could impact your health. The study uses simple lab tests, and participants receive compensation.
Does hypertonic saline improve mucus clearance in bronchiectasis? The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effects of 7% hypertonic saline (HS) delivered by nebulizer on clearance of mucus from the lungs in people with bronchiectasis. We will compare mucociliary clearance (MCC: a measurement of the rate at which a person's lungs can clear inhaled particles) at baseline, after a single dose of HS, and after two weeks of treatment with HS twice a day. We will also assess response to HS with other outcomes (spirometry, multiple breath washout [MBW], changes in sputum [coughed up mucus or phlegm], and survey responses). Compensation provided. No blood draws required.
We are seeking participants with type 2 diabetes who use insulin and whose diabetes has affected kidney function and are interested in trying out a new medication that is expected to improve blood sugar control and prevent the weight gain (or induce weight loss) associated with increased insulin use. Compensation for time and travel are provided.
Do you have Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency? Do you want to participate in research? You may be able to participate in a research project to be contacted for future research studies. Compensation provided.
Are you interested in losing weight to improve your health? This is an innovative research study that aims to promote weight loss in older adults through either a health coach or a registered dietitian and physical therapist. In those not showing weight loss at 8-weeks, we will try a different strategy to maximize the chance of losing weight. We will provide a gift card incentive for your time.
The study treatment, finerenone, is being developed to help people who have long lasting kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney disease (CKD). It works by blocking a certain hormone called aldosterone that causes injury and inflammation in the heart and kidney which is known to play a role in CKD. In this study, the researchers want to learn if finerenone works the same way in kidney transplant recipients. Some subjects will receive the study drug and some will receive a placebo.
Have you ever wondered what environmental toxins you are exposed to on a daily basis, and how it might affect your health? The STRIVE study is looking for volunteers who would like to provide blood, urine, and/or saliva, as well as home samples such as soil, dust, and/or water. In this study, we want to learn more about the environmental factors that contribute to advanced liver disease and liver cancer. We are looking for healthy volunteers and people with liver cirrhosis who live in either North Carolina or Georgia to take part.
Help shape the future of lupus! Do you want to provide a game-changing contribution to lupus-centered research? Help us make clinical research more efficient and effective. If you have lupus, you can participate by providing samples we can study, such as blood, urine, saliva, and/or stool, to help doctors combat lupus head-on. Compensation provided.
