Supporting NICU-to-Home Transitions

Preterm birth and the subsequent neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience have unique impacts on infant development, caregiver psychological health, and infant-caregiver dyadic interactions. Mindful parenting and self-compassion are parenting traits that can help families manage the emotional toll of the NICU experience and foster resiliency during the transition home. The purpose of this study is to gather parent perspectives on how dispositional mindful parenting and self-compassion shape familial experiences during NICU-to-home transitions.
